clockwork.

Here’s another awesome clock, this one by Henk Stallinga. I found it over at Propeller Modern (which sadly does not have a direct link, so check the Accessories part of their menu). It’s a modern reinterpretation of the grandfather clock. The top tells time, and the bottom is the pendulum. They’re not actually connected in anyway (and run on separate batteries) which is kind of a shame, but the idea is still cool. Comes in three colors and costs $75.

mosaic. light.

November 13, 2007

Mosaic is the real-world version of what a pixelated light bulb would have looked like on some old 8-bit gaming system. It comes from an amazing studio called &Design in Japan that also makes a pixelated version of the wristwatch. Sadly it seems to be just a prototype so I don’t know if or when it will be available or how much it will cost, but I’m first on the waiting list for one if they make it.

With an elegantly simple design, the new Lutron Vierti LED Dimmer brings lighting controls a sharp modern style. With the new Vierti LED dimmer, you can adjust lighting levels at the touch of a finger. Featuring a single vertical bar of light, the control is divided into two sections. The small bottom section can be pressed to turn the light on and off, while the long top section controls the light’s intensity. A clean and intuitive design, one simply drags down the bar to dim the light. The LED lights provide an interactive display that clearly indicates the light’s current setting. Vierti is available with LED lights in blue, white and green and with wall plates in a selection of finishes, the Lutron dimmer brings precise control and a wonderful technical style to modern homes.

a friendly, welcoming smile to any room and are great gifts for animal lovers of all ages. When illuminated, the Kumo paper emits a soft, colorful glow, making the lamps ideal for any child’s room. Each lamp features a metal frame, six foot cord with an in-line switch, and takes a 25 watt candelabra bulb. The electrical cord set may be removed to use the Night-Time Pals™ as decorative accents. We suggest using a seven and a half watt bulb if using a Night-Time Pal™ as a night-light.

Contemporary Lighting from Baga

May 21, 2007

Unique designs that combine mini shades with classic chandeliers, the new contemporary lighting from Baga brings a whimsical style to these large lighting centre-pieces (see the contemporary catalog). Small fabric lampshades attached to twisting squiggling nickel wires and direct beams of light around the room. Beneath the ring of shades hang chains of transparent crystals which suspend beautiful large pendants. The new contemporary lighting range from Baga includes both chandeliers and wall scones with red, black or ivory shades. A wonderful compromise between the convenience of electric bulbs and a traditional elegance, the modern glass bulbs are concealed beneath simple conical shades. The multi-layered Baga chandeliers glitter with sophisticated glamour and a fabulous creative spark.
