Casamania – kant stool by karim rashid

July 11, 2007

designed by karim rashid, the kant stool is made from reinforced polypropylene with a polypropylene seat and can support up to 440 pounds. designed for contract use, the piece is actually rather utilitarian and useful and would be excellent for residential use as well. we find the kant stool has a strange resemblance to ET or, perhaps, immanuel kant- perhaps due to the minimal cantilever form. in use, we find the stool pretty interesting, as it places emphasis on the human form on it.
the seats are interchangeable (allowing for multiple color mixes), and the polypropylene is treated with polygiene (antibacterial) technology. suitable for indoor or outdoor use. 100% recyclable, too.

top top is the latest surprise from philippe starck. it simultaneously combines polished and transparent finishes for a striking and very original look, and its lines are minimal, simple and essential. the tapered and transparent legs are square with “pleated” surfaces and a metal core, and the table tops are lacquered with polyester in glossy white, glossy black, wenge and oak. top top is available in three sizes that make it versatile and suited to different uses.
table top is constructed of polyester-lacquered or wood-laminated MDF. the frame is made from PMMA steel.

designed by philippe starck the top top table line is distinguished by its PMMA leg which can be either a round or square transparent section with a faceted surface and metal core. a first version is proposed to ideally furnish the home with a square or round glossy lacquered polyester top and polished aluminum base. the transparent central leg makes the structure agile while the faceted one is sophisticated.
